5 Signs That It’s Time to Change Your Auto Insurance

When you sign up for auto insurance, it’s a general rule to do your research ahead of time. You look for competitive premiums, the best coverage, and a trustworthy insurance company. However, as time goes on, you may start to realize that your current insurance provider is not right for you. Some factors in particular can signal that change could be on the horizon. Here are a few signs that it may be time to search for a new insurance provider:

You Dread the Customer Service Experience

While having to contact your car insurance provider won’t always be the best experience, it shouldn’t be one that you dread. They are there to help you during a stressful time, not be the cause of your stress.

Some people struggle with long waits on the phone, challenging call operators, and unanswered emails. Others battle to receive consistent communication at all. If you find that your interactions with your provider are unpleasant, it may be time to seek out a new one.

The Premiums Keep Rising

It’s only normal for insurance premiums to rise over time. Many things can impact them, such as your vehicle, a change in your living environment, inflation, and increased insurer risk. However, if you have a clean driving record and have been a loyal customer for several years, premiums that rise at a rapid rate are unusual. In fact, long-time, loyal customers of some insurance companies tend to benefit from discounts and loyalty incentives rather than significant premium increases. If you’re trying to think of ways you can save money, taking a look at your auto insurance may be worth your while.

Their Online Presence Is Lacking

Sometimes, you may have a question about insurance and don’t want to have to wait in a long queue on the phone to have it answered. With some of the best insurance companies, you can head to their website or use their phone app. Not all insurance companies offer what you need online.

At a minimum, you should be able to learn about the different insurance offerings, get a quote, and even file a claim online. If your current auto insurance provider is lagging behind, it might be time to look elsewhere. After all, if your RV can have all the bells and whistles, why can’t your insurance company?

Filing a Claim Is Too Difficult

Insurance companies are in the industry of making sure their customers’ needs are catered for during an accident. If you get into a collision, you should be able to head to their website or pick up the phone and immediately get the claims process underway. However, some people have the opposite experience. Being involved in a car accident is stressful enough, but some vehicle owners find themselves struggling with lack of contact, a slow claims process, and a significant wait to have their vehicle fixed and back on the road. For anyone camping or exploring the countryside, this is not an ideal situation to be in.

They Have a Bad Reputation

Through digital marketing, businesses can make themselves more visible on the internet. This allows them to reach more customers, but it also means they have provided avenues for public feedback. Unhappy customers can take to social media and Google reviews to tell others of their bad experiences with a company. With more negative reviews than positive ones, you may start to wonder if they are not doing right by their customers.

Just as you may base your RV gear purchasing decision on online reviews, you may like to read through your insurance provider’s feedback and decide whether it’s time to look elsewhere for your auto insurance.

There’s no harm in being loyal to your current insurance provider, but only if they are doing right by you. If any of these signs above stand out, it might be time to consider alternative options.
